Good news is hard to come by these days, especially when you’re an Arsenal fan. But this Gooner couple-to-be from the district of Kollam in Kerala has glad tidings that would warm our hearts.
The groom, Arun is a pharmacist, his fiance Aswathy is currently completing her education and as far as the two are concerned, there was no better way to announce their upcoming nuptials than with an Arsenal themed ‘Save the Date’ video and photoshoot.
The two look quite chic together, dressed in their matching red and white Arsenal kits. The numbers at the back of their jerseys announce the wedding date – 22/12.
In addition to being a hard-core Gooner, Arun is also a local Seven-a-side football player. “I started watching Arsenal in 2002 and almost immediately, I was hooked to this beautiful game”, says Arun.
“My whole life revolves around football and when I knew I was getting married, I just had to have a football themed wedding. My close friends and family were very supportive and thankfully, Aswathy was thrilled to be a part of it”, he confessed.
The photoshoot was a success but what’s grabbed even more eyeballs, is the accompanying ‘Save-the-Date’ video. Shot to mirror a player signing, the video shows Aswathy signing a life-time contract as ‘heart-keeper’ for Arsenal, as Arun proudly looks on from just over her shoulder.
And the attention to detail in every frame, is remarkable. Just take a closer look at the contract shown in the video.
“The transfer window is something we fans look forward to every season. The anticipation, hope and dreams of bringing in someone new to be a part of the club you love, a part of your life, is exciting. I felt the same way about my fiance and that’s how I had the idea for the transfer-signing themed video”, explains Arun.
Earlier on Wednesday, 18th December; Arun shared the video on Social media and the couple couldn’t be more delighted by the reception it has received.
So what other surprises do the two have in store for us as we get closer to the date of the wedding? “Well, we are a bit disappointed we can’t have Gunnersaurus officiate”, responds Arun with a chuckle, to my rather cheeky question, “But we hope to decorate the dias with some jerseys, to reflect the look and feel of the Emirates dressing room”, he adds.
Now what a sight that would be… especially with Gooners from across the state wishing them the best as they take the first step of their journey together… in Red & White.
